Salem Fire Department Offers Free Emergency Response Training

SALEM — The City of Salem Fire Department is inviting residents and workers to prepare for emergencies through its upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. The program, developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, equips participants with essential skills to care for themselves, their families, and their neighbors in the critical hours or days after a disaster, when professional emergency services may be delayed or overwhelmed.

The training culminates with a hands-on mock disaster exercise on Saturday, November 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, giving participants the chance to put their skills to the test in a realistic scenario.

Topics covered include disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. The training is free and open to anyone who lives or works in Salem…
