Hundreds of families attend City of Charleston’s annual First Day Festival

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Ahead of school starting this week, hundreds of kids and parents attended the city of Charleston’s First Day Festival on Sunday.

At the annual festival, kids and their parents walked around Gaillard Auditorium in downtown Charleston as they learned more about everything that they need for the start of school. Several booths were set up to ensure families were ready for the first day of school and all at no cost.

“I walked around for a little bit and checked out all the tables and booths and it just sets families up for success to start the school year out with their school supplies, snacks and knowledge of where they can go if they need additional resources,” Angela McLaughlin, executive director of nutrition services at Charleston County School District, said…
