AccuWeather Fall predictions for Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky

We are just a few weeks away from the start of meteorological fall, which is September 1st (however, the astronomical autumn starts on September 22nd after the fall equinox). So the countdown is officially on!

AccuWeather released their predictions for fall, and for our region, they say our transition into fall will be “near normal,” and warmth will linger with cold blasts “lurking.” I’m not 100% sure what that means, but as someone who has lived in the Tri-State their whole life, to me, that sounds like we will be having a very warm start to fall, and slowly transition to cooler temperatures.

Tri-State’s Severe Storm Risk Predictions

What I found most interesting about AccuWeather’s predictions was what they had to say about the severe storm risk for our area.

According to their assessment, the Ohio Valley region is at a “moderate” risk for severe weather this fall.

The collision of lingering summer warmth and encroaching cold air will trigger severe weather from the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley. These regions are expected to see a moderate risk for damaging storms and tornadoes, especially in October and November.

Now may be a good time to get a weather radio and have it ready to go so you’re prepared this fall!…
