The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 3:54 p.m. EDT on Sunday for strong thunderstorms until 5:30 p.m. EDT for Montcalm, Gratiot, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Allegan, Barry, Eaton, Van Buren, Kalamazoo and Calhoun counties.
Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
“At 3:53 p.m., Doppler radar tracked thunderstorms along a line extending from near Belding to 5 miles east of Hartford. Movement was northeast at 20 mph,” says the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
