Overnight police chase ends with ruptured gas line, driver arrested

BATON ROUGE — A ‘shots fired’ call in Baton Rouge overnight ended in a police pursuit and a crash that ruptured a gas line just miles from East Feliciana Parish.

Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, a Baton Rouge police officer working near Airline Highway and Plank Road heard gunfire. When the officer attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, the driver fled, sparking a chase. At this time, it’s unclear who or what the shots were aimed at.

The pursuit ended when the driver crashed into a gas line on Liberty Road, just short of the East Feliciana–East Baton Rouge parish line…
