CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — “It was chaos. So no cell service, no electricity, you couldn’t cook food. Just driving through the community. Just trying to figure out what was next and how people were gonna start that recovery process.”
That’s what founder of Together We Achieve Raymond Siddell remembers following the August 10th, 2020 derecho in Cedar Rapids. He took matters into his own hands.
“I started a Facebook group, just trying to get my friends and family together. To figure out what it was that they needed to start a down there road to recovery and a little did I know that that Facebook group was going to explode into a trading Post, as I called it back in the day where we were able to bring in donations to The community, as well as distribute them and bring in volunteers to send throughout the community as well.”…
