Omaha, Neb. – Nearly two million people across Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 4 a.m. Sunday, with forecasters warning of damaging winds, large hail, and the potential for a couple of tornadoes overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, scattered storms are expected to intensify late Saturday evening, producing gusts up to 80 mph and hail as large as two inches in diameter. The watch area includes major cities such as Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island, Beatrice, and stretches into Concordia, Junction City, and Garden City, Kan. Parts of western Iowa, including Shenandoah, are also at risk.
