- Next round of showers arrives this evening
- Milder temperatures through the week
- Dry weather midweek
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Yesterday was a tricky day when forecasting the timing and areas that would be hit most by the heavy rainfall. On Friday, forecast models were all in disagreement. Airing on the side of safety the National Weather Service as well as WMTV 15 went for higher totals in our area for Saturday, but because of the nature of this stationary boundary that settled over our area, instead of most of our viewing area getting the heavy, by Saturday evening, it was mostly our northwestern and northeastern counties that received 1.5″ or more.
We made up for much of that forecasted rain starting after midnight. Here are a few of the rainfall totals over the last 24 hours:
- Monona – 3.8′
- Madison (west) – 3.09″
- Horicon – 3.6″
- Patch Grove – 4.01″
- Waukesha and Milwaukee County received 5″ to over 11″
We are still under a First Alert Day as southern Wisconsin continues to wrestle with heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms, as the flood watch remains in effect through the evening.
What’s Coming Up…
Our next round of showers and storms are expected to keep moving through the region, mainly south of I-90, persisting into the early evening hours. There’s still the risk of flash flooding where storms train or linger over the same areas. Temperatures during this unsettled stretch will hold in the 70s, but with high humidity, it will still feel sticky and uncomfortable outside…
