After weight loss, Boise runner readies for 100-mile ultramarathon

Earlier this year, Samantha Hager ran from her front stoop in Boise all the way to Mountain Home — along the freeway, in the dark, 54 miles in total.

“It was really exciting,” Hager, 29, said.

But the feat was just practice for the most daunting challenge 2025 had in store for her. This weekend, Hager will depart for Leadville, Colorado, home of the “Race Across the Sky,” a 100-mile course peaking at 12,600 feet above sea level, scheduled for Aug. 16…
