CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – It has been more than five years since the COVID-19 pandemic began and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Deputy Superintendent Dr. Melissa Balknight said the district has made progress getting students back up to speed.
“We are definitely making gains,” Dr. Balknight said. “We are quickly accelerating the rate of our students to make sure that they’re successful. We are seeing closure in gaps in math and reading with all of our groups of students.”
She said district leaders will receive new updated student performance data this fall, but information gathered during recent spring assessments shows the district is moving in a positive direction with all students…
