In an incident that unfolded into an unexpected chase, the Alhambra Police Department recently responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle found loitering in an alley between Edith Ave. and Shorb St. According to the department’s Facebook post, the driver of the vehicle, upon being approached by officers, claimed he was patiently waiting for his girlfriend.
However, the narrative took a sharp turn as the driver, instead of remaining at the scene, decided to make a swift escape, prompting a pursuit. The man’s journey spanned from the streets of Alhambra onto the I-10 freeway, then exiting at Fremont Ave., before being boxed in at a nearby CVS. When officers finally detained the individual, he brazenly denied involvement in any pursuit. Yet, in what seems like a desperate attempt at romance, he was caught trying to get the phone number of a woman across the street, “yes, while being detaine,d” as the Alhambra Police Department detailed.
Francisco Rodriguez of Harbor City, CA, was the man behind the wheel that day. After a series of events that could well befit the scripts of a Hollywood chase, he found himself subjected to the much less glamorous ending of an arrest, facing charges for evading and resisting arrest.
