ICE slaps hold on unlicensed driver from Mexico arrested in Wildwood

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on a Lady Lake man who was stopped in Wildwood without a driver’s license.

An officer observed 29-year-old Valentin Segura Mendez in a white Chevy Tahoe going through the intersection of U.S. 301 and County Road 462 around 10:40 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A check of the tag revealed he did not have a driver’s license.

The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle, which was going 40 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone, near the intersection with County Road 214. He explained the reason for the stop to Segura Mendez and his passenger, to which Segura Mendez confirmed he did not have a license. He instead handed over a Mexican passport and ID, the report said.

The officer asked how long he had been living in Florida, and he stated around two years. Dispatch then advised that there were no records of him or a driver’s license, the report said…
