First Alert Forecast: more downpours to dodge at home, Hurricane Erin trending more likely

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Your First Alert Forecast for Monday night maintains a good chance for showers, downpours, and waterspouts; these elements will either drift up from the south or in off the ocean, so keep an eye to those directions and your WECT Weather App as you go about your plans!

A new tropical storm named Erin appears poised to become the Atlantic’s first hurricane of 2025 as it tracks over open water this week. Eventual direct Cape Fear impacts from Erin seem unlikely for now; your First Alert Weather Team will necessarily watch the situation closely. In any case, an uptick in rip current risk is likely by the 20th.
