Arkansas Weather Alert: Afternoon Storm Chances Each Day Through Sunday

Little Rock, Ark. – Afternoon and early evening storms are expected to be a near-daily occurrence across Arkansas this week, with the potential for heavy downpours and localized flooding in some areas. While most storms will be hit-or-miss, repeated rounds over the same location could drop up to 3 inches of rain by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely each afternoon through Sunday. Most areas will see rainfall totals between a quarter and three-quarters of an inch, but slow-moving or multiple storms in a day could lead to much higher amounts. The severe weather threat remains low, but lightning and brief strong wind gusts are possible.

Cities from Arkadelphia to Batesville, including Little Rock, Conway, and Pine Bluff, should be prepared for brief but intense rainfall. Drivers are advised to watch for ponding on roads during the evening commute, and residents in flood-prone areas should keep drainage clear…
