Family members care for gravesites of loved ones at Albany cemetery

Family members of people buried in an abandoned cemetery have stepped up to do the maintenance work – even on hot summer days.

NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy first reported in 2019 about the weeds, grass and bushes growing out of control at the Evangelical Protestant Church cemetery on Krumkill Road. A lot of employee groups, sports teams and community volunteers have volunteered.

Now, a new group of people are taking the reins. They mow the lawn out of respect – not just for their own departed loved ones, but also families who are too old or unable to drag their push lawn mowers or their riding mowers from home…
