BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Happy Sunday!
It was initially a sunny start to the morning, but cloud cover has been increasing from east to west during the mid and late morning hours. Temperatures remain cooler in east Alabama versus west Alabama late this morning. It is all thanks to a weak and broad area of low pressure developing off the coast of Georgia this morning. It is producing scattered showers across southeast Georgia, Florida, and into South Carolina. With easterly flow in place, we will likely see some of these showers try to develop and push into east Alabama this afternoon.
Rain chances today remain isolated, so most of us will likely remain dry this afternoon. We are expecting a partly sunny to mostly cloudy sky this afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Winds will continue from the east at 5 to 10 mph. If you have any evening plans, we will likely remain dry with temperatures cooling into the lower 80s by 7 p.m. Temperatures tonight are forecast to cool into the lower 70s.

Easterly winds will continue tomorrow bringing us increasing clouds and a chance to see widely scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. I don’t think we’ll see a lot of rain tomorrow, but coverage may be slightly higher than what we will see today. Monday afternoon will likely become mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s. Showers that develop tomorrow will likely form in east Alabama and push to the west.
Next Big Thing: It looks like moisture levels will increase by midweek as winds shift to the south. With plenty of moisture in the Gulf, we will likely see a higher chance for scattered showers and a few storms Tuesday through Thursday. The chance for rain will likely go up to 50 to 60%…
