Williamsburg launches new program to help unhoused find permanent housing

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – Williamsburg launched a new program to help with the increasing number of unhoused people. It’s called HOPE, or “houseless outreach partnership engagement.”

According to a release, the team will focus on areas with a large population of unhoused people with a goal to connect them with essential services and get them secured into permanent housing. They will also speak to those in public spaces who face severe mental illness, chronic health conditions and substance use disorders.

The Williamsburg Director of Human Services says the team hopes to provide accessible support by meeting people where they are and engaging with them consistently to help them create pathways to services that lead to long-term stability…
