Danville councilman burned in attack still fighting amid ‘uncertain’ future, wife says

DALEVILLE, Va. (WSET) — The Danville City Councilman who was horribly burned in an attack on July 30 faces an “uncertain” future, according to his wife, but he’s still fighting for it.

On July 30, Councilman Lee Vogler was set on fire in a brutal attack in Danville. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Shotsie Buck-Hayes, is accused of dousing Vogler in gas and then lighting him on fire.

Ever since, Vogler has been battling third-degree burns on more than half his body. A GoFundMe started for his family has raised over $134,000, with Vogler’s wife Blair sending out occasional updates to the people who have supported his recovery and their family amid a difficult time…
