West Palm Beach to Host Free Jimmy Buffett Tribute Night on Waterfront, ‘Wastin’ Away on the Waterfront’

Get ready to be transported to Margaritaville without leaving the Bay Area as West Palm Beach gears up for a Jimmy Buffett tribute night. According to an announcement from City of West Palm Beach, residents and fans of the laid-back crooner can join in commemorating his legacy at the free “Wastin’ Away on the Waterfront” bash. The homage to the “Margaritaville” maestro is set to happen on August 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. on the vibrant West Palm Beach Waterfront.

Mayor Keith A. James put it succinctly, “Jimmy Buffett’s music has always felt like home in West Palm Beach,” and affirmed the commitment to an annual gathering that epitomizes the laid-back, convivial vibe of the city.

Greg Pitts and the Parrot Head Party Band lead the musical charge, promising renditions of Buffett’s back catalog that have entertained crowds for two decades. Breaking away from the tunes, event goers can also indulge in limbo and trivia contests, with prizes on tap throughout the tropical eve. Nonprofits including Parrotheads for the Palm Beaches and Manatee Lagoon will be there to bolster the sense of community celebration and awareness. Angela Poco, the city’s Marketing and Community Events Manager, told City of West Palm Beach the event “is designed to unite the community with the same joy and sense of togetherness that his music inspires.”…
