Woman convicted for her role in hatchet murder at Albuquerque motel

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A jury handed down a conviction Monday morning for a woman involved in a brutal murder with a hatchet. According to court documents, Angel Salazar was seen on security cameras at the Days Inn on Central Ave. in 2023.

She, and an unidentified suspect followed Ramon Martinez into his room. Thirty minutes later, Salazar and the unidentified suspect can be seen leaving the room, both with blood on them. Inside, police found Martinez dead from more than 80 wounds from a hatchet. Salazar was convicted of second-degree murder. She’s facing a possible life sentence. Her accomplice in the attack has not been identified.
