Non-tenured faculty are being let go amid changes in Oregon State University’s budget spending.
The layoff decisions come after a new budget model that took effect July 1. OSU’s Board of Trustees passed the new budget model in May.
“The budget model changed, so it just makes it unsustainable to have (non-tenured) people teach courses,” Allen Milligan, a non-tenured professor in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology, said in an interview. “The reality is that I’m probably forced into early retirement.”…
