Hillyard named Spokane’s first-ever ‘Certified Creative District’ by WA Arts Commission

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Washington State Arts Commission has named Hillyard as Spokane City and County’s first “Certified Creative District,” according to Greater Spokane Incorporated (GSI).

GSI says that the Hillyard Creative District is the product of a 15-month community effort that was led by Darya Pilram through the Economic Recovery Corps (ERC). ERC is a national initiative that was funded by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

“In addition to arts and culture, the creative economy is about the authentic assets that make our region magnetic to talent and investment,” said Economic Recovery Corps (ERC) Fellow leading the Hillyard initiative, Darya Pilram. “Hillyard’s designation proves that creative communities are economic engines driving job creation and business attraction.”…
