A new substation is in operation in Northampton County, Pa., serving more than 5,000 residents and businesses in the area.
The Klecknersville Substation provides a new power source for customers in Moore, Lehigh, East Allen and Upper Nazareth townships and Bath and Chapman boroughs. The work is being done by FirstEnergy Pennsylvania Electric Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy that is known locally as Met-Ed.
Previously, customers in this area relied on power lines that stretched 15 to 20 miles from the Northwood Substation in Palmer Township. The routes went through wooded areas that were more susceptible to tree damage and vehicle accidents…
