CLYDE, N.C. (WLOS) — A volunteer-run relief site that has served Clyde residents since Helene will shut down Aug. 26, ending nearly a year of daily help for families still struggling to recover.
Camp Restore Hope, run entirely by volunteers, has operated for the past 10 months on a residential lot in Clyde’s business district. The site distributes food, clothing, propane and other essentials, and houses camper trailers for people who lost their homes in last September’s flood.
“I guess we all own it. I mean, really, we all do it,” founder Chris Grigg said. “I just came up with the name and then people came and started volunteering. It takes a whole lot more than one person after the flood it just needed a lot more.”…
