SLED: Upstate woman charged after submitting altered medical bills to gain insurance money

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said a woman has been charged forgery after submitting altered medical bills to gain insurance money.

According to an arrest warrant, 26-year-old Jaiquasia Patterson knowingly submitted a false claim for insurance payment to UAA Casualty Insurance Company on June 28.

The warrant goes on to say that the medical bill submitted was determined to be altered or fake. Patterson provided the company with the altered bill of $9,958 to try to gain more money but was denied payment…
