Delayed response to Medley fires sparks union’s concerns over Miami-Dade’s upcoming budget

While a fire that erupted at a warehouse in Medley over the weekend is now contained, some members of the county’s fire union are voicing concerns with the response time to the blaze.

The third-alarm fire at the warehouse for used car distributor HGreg was the third fire in that area of Medley in less than a week, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed. Thirty-nine units responded to the scene.

“It took over 13 minutes for the first fire engine carrying water to arrive on scene,” said William McAllister, the local fire union president…
