Manhunt underway for armed and dangerous suspect with DeSoto County involvement

Authorities are warning North Mississippi residents to be on high alert as the search continues for Ewel “Bubba” Scott, a fugitive considered armed and dangerous who is wanted in multiple counties.

Scott is sought by the Tallahatchie County and Panola County sheriff’s offices on charges of possession of stolen property, burglary, and grand larceny, with additional charges expected. He managed to elude capture on Monday after being spotted in Enid riding a stolen ATV. Officers recovered the ATV and a stolen .410 shotgun, but Scott escaped—leaving behind even his shoes.

A firearm and a stolen Gator utility vehicle remain unaccounted for, and law enforcement warns that Scott is likely seeking food, water, and another means of transportation. Authorities say he typically travels at night…
