‘Prolific offender’ arrested for 12 counts of burglary after boxcar break-in

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police used dogs, drones and aerial support to bust a boxcar burglary in progress, arresting a man they called a “prolific offender.”

Officers say three suspects were spotted breaking into train cars at Wells Station and Chelsea Extended on Aug. 11.

Pierre Smith was taken into custody and charged with 12 counts of burglary. The two other suspects escaped.

Smith already was out on bond for four boxcar burglaries in 2024…
