Soon after Edith Noriega became a middle school nurse, she realized many Spanish-speaking students were feeling uncomfortable. Students would say they felt fine in the school’s health office and return to class, even if something was wrong.
As the students learned Noriega could speak Spanish with them, however, they became more comfortable and willing to ask for help.
