Pets deserve to have a loving home, but sometimes that’s not the case, and that’s where local animal shelters come in.
From Friday to Monday, the ANNA Shelter on East 10th Street brought in 44 dogs, 17 cats, two ferrets and four horses – all animals that the shelter’s director said were needy and neglected.

“It was like one after the other, and again that gets overwhelming, but we’re all about, when I started this place, like one animal, one day at a time, and I try to remind myself of things like that, but it’s hard,” said Ruth Thompson, ANNA Shelter Director.
Thompson said every animal they rescued needed to be there for one reason or another – some were starving, some needed immediate medical attention, and one little puppy even had two of his legs broken…
