Fundraising efforts underway to identify 1999 Allen County homicide victim

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A business known locally for its work helping identify a woman who died in Fort Wayne more than 30 years after her body was discovered is working to help the Allen County Coroner’s office close its last cold case.

IGGNite DNA is trying to help identify “John River Doe,” who was found stabbed to death in Cedar Creek in April 1999. His body was discovered by men who were on a walk near the Hursh Road entrance to Metea Park.

His death has been ruled a homicide, but investigators have spent more than two decades working to learn who the man was…
