Polk County Sheriff Deputies Arrest “Cranker” From West Virginia After Bizarre Car Fire

A strange series of events in rural Polk County ends with a foot chase, a taser deployment, and the discovery of methamphetamines.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old woman from West Virginia, Bridget Cozort, was arrested after a peculiar incident involving a car fire, an escape attempt, and a taser deployment, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Grady Judd detailed the bizarre chain of events in a statement, noting Cozort’s criminal history and erratic behavior. The incident began when deputies and fire rescue crews were dispatched to a car fire in a rural part of the county.

The vehicle, which belonged to Cozort, had the words “You can have it” spelled out on the side in electrical tape.
