JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – As people consider where to remain or move to in the metro, safety is usually one of the most important factors.
For those considering moving themselves or their businesses to places across the Jackson area, how safe their home, workplace and possessions will be is at the top of mind. Mississippi Crime Statistics compiled by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety address many of these and other concerns.
Not all law enforcement agencies, including the Jackson, Pearl and Yazoo City Police Departments, consistently share data with the state. However, available data from 2024 and 2025 offered a glimpse of the areas with the highest and lowest levels of property crime. Below is the overview.
Across all Jackson metro cities that provided data, larceny is the most common property crime; the least common offense is arson. Of the areas that provided data to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety database, Vicksburg experienced the most property crime.
