Reno, NEV — Eleven months after News 4 notified the state of Nevada about a sewer spill from a Sparks apartment complex, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has wrapped-up one phase of its investigation finding the developer, Silverwing, and the city of Sparks each failed to notify the state about the discharge of raw sewage into the Truckee River.
The Notice of Alleged Violation includes several follow-up questions for both Silverwing and the city. It also calls for a mandatory meeting with state officials to decide what if any civil penalties should be issued as a result of this incident.
News 4 first notified state environmental regulators in September of 2024 after a Sparks resident notified us of a foul smell in his neighborhood.
