Police arrest woman accused of starting fire that damaged Southeast Portland business

PORTLAND, Ore. — Police arrested a woman after she allegedly lit a fire that damaged a business in Southeast Portland Tuesday morning, Portland police told KGW.

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the fire near Southeast Division Street and 87th Avenue. The agency said in a post on X around 5:52 a.m. that the fire was extinguished, but flames slightly charred the side of a building near a staircase.

KGW spoke to the couple who owns the business. They declined an on-camera interview, but said this isn’t the first time they’ve dealt with a fire. In another incident, they said a fire that was used for warmth had spread close to the building but didn’t damage it…
