SCHENECTADY — Amber Geier, the Rotterdam woman charged with criminally negligent homicide and manslaughter after the decomposing corpse of her insulin-dependent daughter Skylar Pettit was found in their Rotterdam home, has died, her attorney, Brian Mercy, said Wednesday morning.
Geier was ill throughout much of the time she faced charges in her daughter’s 2023 death, he said. ”She had been in and out of the hospital quite a bit while this was going on,” he said.
Mercy said Geier died Monday, hours before she was scheduled to appear in Schenectady County Court. The judge gave Mercy 48 hours to find his client and when he reached Geier’s family, he learned she had died earlier in the day from apparent cardiac arrest.
