Family identifies father killed in Del Paso Heights apartment shooting

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The family of a father shot dead early Saturday morning in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights neighborhood is asking for his killer to turn themself in.

Montray Allen, 31, was shot at a party while trying to de-escalate after someone got in his face “completely unprovoked,” according to his relatives. They said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time; the shooting was around 12:30 a.m. at North Avenue Apartments.

“It was unprovoked. It was senseless,” said Ezell Humphrey Grant, Allen’s uncle. “From what I heard, he talked to the person, whoever it was, like, ‘What’s going on?’ Trying to tell him this don’t even make no sense for us to be even talking about anything negative.”…
