PENDER COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Randy Burton, the chairman of the Pender County Board of Commissioners, is facing a lawsuit over roughly $18,000 in credit debt he allegedly hasn’t paid.
The suit, filed June 9 in Pender District Court by Bank of America, alleges Burton has failed to make periodic payments on a credit account he ran. Bank of America’s lawsuit says Burton owes $18,413.09. A spokesperson for the company declined to comment on the litigation.
Burton was appointed to the Board of Commissioners last year, secured the seat in the November election and was then elected chairman of the board. He declined to answer any questions on-camera when reached by phone Tuesday.
