Henderson pushes back to union’s claims of ‘defunding the police’

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Claims of efforts to defund the Henderson Police Department are growing louder after contract negotiations broke down between union leaders and city staff.

On Tuesday, a Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers (NAPSO) spokesperson released a statement to the media regarding a breakdown in current negotiations with the City of Henderson, expressing disappointment.

“While city leaders consistently accept praise for the safe environment that the police insure, city leaders steadfastly refuse to negotiate a fair contract with the police,” a NAPSO spokesperson wrote. “The City of Henderson’s proposals at mediation this week were tantamount to defunding the police.”…
