Aiken Co. man arrested, charged with operating chop shop

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – An Aiken man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he was allegedly operating a chop shop.

According to authorities, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office provided information to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office on a stolen vehicle from their jurisdiction to a location on the 900 block of Dougherty Road in Aiken on August 11th.

Deputies say once they arrived, it led to the discovery of a chop shop, and investigators dismantled it recovering multiple high end stolen Dodge Chargers and other component car parts from jurisdictions throughout the CSRA.

According to investigators, William Hurt, 28, of Aiken, was arrested and charged with operating a chop shop, and authorities say that more charges are expected on Hurt in this case as it remains under investigation…
