KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Rural Metro Fire crews extinguished a kitchen fire Wednesday morning that may have been caused by a lightning strike, a spokesperson said.
Crews responded to a fire on the 12000 block of Saddle Way in the Choto community as a storm passed through the area. When they arrived, they found a house filled with smoke and a small fire in the kitchen, which they quickly extinguished.

There were indications that it was caused by lightning, although the cause remains under investigation, Rural Metro said. It urged people to remain vigilant during severe weather and to make sure their smoke detectors work.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation to our firefighters for their quick response to this incident during our severe storms this morning,” said Rural Metro Fire Chief Jeff Devlin. “This was critical in limiting the property damage to the home.”…
