Scott highlights staff shortages in Hampton VA visit

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Amid concerns of the thousands of layoffs looming for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Rep. Bobby Scott took a guided tour Wednesday of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton.

“Under DOGE, they were going to cut 80,000 [people],” Scott said. “Now they are going to cut a reduced amount to 30,000. I call this “not as bad, bad news” because there are 30,000 people to fire, and if you sign up, you may be first in line to get fired. You don’t know.”
