Ocala man breaks into gas station with trash can to steal tobacco, police say

A 40-year-old Ocala man was arrested on several felony charges after he allegedly used a trash can to break into a local convenience store and steal tobacco products.

On Wednesday, July 30, at around 4:45 a.m., Ocala Police Department officers were dispatched to the Shell gas station located at 3401 SW College Road in reference to a “glass break activation of [an] alarm” at the business, according to the arrest report.

Upon arrival, officers found a gray plastic trash can belonging to the gas station that appeared to have been “utilized in breaking a glass window” on the east side of the convenience store. The report stated that the upper portion of the trash can was damaged…
