Woman Killed, Man Fighting for Life After Tree Falls on Car During Intense Storms

Authorities in Nebraska said a woman was killed and a man was injured after a tree fell on a vehicle as the eastern part of the state experienced bad weather over the weekend.

The Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department said in a news release that emergency responders were dispatched to a personal injury incident at Two Rivers State Park in Waterloo early Saturday, Aug. 9. The fire department stated that the incident involved a vehicle and a person trapped under a large cottonwood tree.

“Upon arrival, emergency personnel found 1 female, had sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene,” the fire department said in the news release. “The male passenger was pinned in the vehicle, which had sustained extensive damage from the fallen tree.”…
