ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New body camera video is giving more insight into how the University of New Mexico Police Department responded to an on-campus shooting last month that left a fourteen-year-old dead and a suspect at large.
Around 1:30 a.m., on the morning of July 25, a mom called 911 saying her stepson told her about an on-campus shooting and that she could not get a hold of her other son, who was with him. According to 911 calls, APD dispatch told UNM Police about the shooting eight minutes later. By 2:30am, the mother had made her way to campus to get answers and was still calling police.
“I called just a while ago about my son potentially being shot on campus. The police are still not here, it’s been over 45 minutes. I’m at the room all the way from Rio Rancho. Made it here. there’s no urgency,” said the mom on a 911 call…
