Health officials warn to stay on top of vaccinations for pets and livestock

Weld County is warning residents to get their pets and livestock vaccinated for rabies after an infected skunk was found Aug. 5 near Eaton.

Witnesses reported the animal had been acting abnormally and had been near the Eaton resident’s livestock, prompting a call to the county Department of Public Health and Environment.

In an Aug. 8 statement, health officials urged pet owners to vaccinate all domestic animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and livestock, against rabies through a licensed veterinarian.
