Owners of NE Portland’s ‘Crash House’ sue city, gas company for $1.2 million

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The owners of a home located near a sharp traffic curve in Northeast Portland have sued both the city and a gas company, claiming both could have prevented crashes that have damaged the property “on a regular basis.”

Owners Bradley and Jessica Parks stated in the suit that — since owning the property on NE 24th Ave. near Broadway — they have contacted the city to request improved signage, barriers, or other safety devices, but the city failed to install them.

The suit adds that, due to the high number of drivers who fail to maneuver the tricky left turn, Portland officials have colloquially named the home the “Crash House.”

Additionally, the Parks claim they repeatedly notified NW Natural about an exposed gas line at the front of the home, which was vulnerable to any crashing vehicles. A bollard, or post, was then installed near the gas line…
