Driver of car that hurtled through intersection, over sidewalk in NE Portland, killing pedestrian, dies of injuries

The man who drove the car that careened down Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard last Thursday — hitting pedestrians and other cars as it swerved over sidewalks and through traffic — died on Tuesday from injuries he sustained in the crashes, officials said.

Portland police have said they don’t believe that Curtis Leroy Palmer, 60, of Portland meant to hit the pedestrians and other cars during the incident.

The silver Ford Escape that Palmer was driving hit two pedestrians near the intersection of Jarrett Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, before continuing down MLK and hitting head-on traffic several blocks north of Jarrett Street, police said…
