HUDSON — When vandals spray-painted a Hudson building last week with messages like “Take down the rich” and “Revolt now,” Mayor Kamal Johnson rushed over to snap photographs of himself in front of the graffiti, which also included tags about his relationship with the controversial local developer Galvan.
Most of the graffiti was hastily painted over at the South Third Street home. But an image of the damage remained on Johnson’s Facebook page, where he changed his profile picture to a photo of himself smiling in front of the defaced building, which is not owned by Galvan.
“Yall better make this my most liked pic ever lol,” Johnson wrote in the caption accompanying the photo, which shows him posing in front of the message “Kamal loves Galvin” — an apparent misspelling of the company’s name.
The stunt marked another chapter in the debate over the mayor’s connection to Galvan, which has long been a lightning rod for criticism as Hudson grapples with housing affordability and a rising cost of living…
