Florida has announced that it will open a second immigration detention facility in north Florida, just six weeks after it launched the controversial Everglades center known as “Alligator Alcatraz.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Thursday said that the new facility, dubbed “Deportation Depot,” will be housed at the Baker Correctional Institution, west of Jacksonville.
DeSantis said after the opening of the Everglades facility, officials determined that “additional capacity” was needed.
